About Me
My first priority is cultivating a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where you can be bravely vulnerable. I take a warmly curious stance that helps us both to gain a better understanding of your unique experiences, actions, and values. Therapy is a collaborative partnership, and we will work together towards goals that are meaningful for you. My work often involves helping clients cultivate nonjudgmental self-awareness; develop self-regulation and organizational skills; overcome avoidance; and live more authentic, fulfilling lives. I absolutely love helping people shake off the shackles of “I should” and move towards what they truly want and need for themselves.
More About My Practice
I take a person-centered approach to treatment and draw from a variety of evidence-based interventions, with foundations in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and mindfulness.
Nonjudgmental self-awareness is a cornerstone of my personal and professional philosophy. Shame clouds our ability to see ourselves and fosters avoidance. When we can see ourselves and our situation clearly and compassionately, we are much more able to respond effectively and move towards what matters most.
My approach prioritizes identifying and altering patterns that are impacting your day-to-day life right now, however, it can be helpful to understand how these patterns developed and were reinforced over time. Once we can accept our past, we are better able to fully experience the present.
I provide individual therapy for adults, and I lead therapy groups for ADHD and executive dysfunction. I also have limited, sporadic availability for short-term cases focusing on diagnostic assessment of adult ADHD (not full cognitive testing).
My Specialties
My primary area of specialization is adult ADHD. I have both professional expertise and lived experience with ADHD.
I also frequently work with clients on issues such as anxiety, procrastination, perfectionism, self-judgment, and emotional avoidance, as well as struggles with organization, time management, and planning. Many of my clients identify as neurodivergent or “burnt-out gifted kids”. Emerging areas of specialization include diagnosis of ASD and OCD in adults.
I am probably NOT the best therapist for someone who prefers a very direct communication style or wants a “tough love” approach. Additionally, although I take a trauma-informed approach to care, I am likely not the best provider for individuals who have PTSD/trauma as a primary treatment concern. (PSM has a number of highly skilled trauma specialists.)
